For groups of fewer than 20, regular admission prices apply. Mac-A-Cheek Castle offers ample free bus parking, bus drivers and a tour guide are offered complimentary admissions.
Information
West Liberty and the surrounding Logan and Champaign Counties offer many attractions, all less than one hour from the Air Force Museum, the Neil Armstrong Museum, Dayton and Columbus. Ohio Caverns (937-465-4017) shares the Mac-A-Cheek valley with Piatt Castle, and Marie's Candies (937-465-3061) is just 2 miles down the road. In West Liberty, The Liberty Gathering Place (937-465-3081) can accommodate tours for lunch, and there are a couple of pizza places and Subway. There is a large variety of restaurants 6 miles north on US 68 in Bellefontaine and also in Urbana, 8 miles south on US 68.
The first floor of Piatt Castle is wheelchair accessible.
School & Youth Programs
Interactive Tours
All programs are interactive and designed by experienced teachers to meet Ohio’s Learning Standards at a site endorsed by America 250 – Ohio,
Inside and on the grounds of the historic house museum, students will be engaged through analysis of primary sources, historical artifacts and natural history specimens through activities, interactive discussions and problem solving.
Program Lengths and Costs
Grades K - 12
45-75 minute programs cost $5 per student.
90-120 minute programs cost $7 per student.
One classroom teacher or adult chaperone receives complementary admission for every sub-group of 8-15 students. An additional teacher or adult chaperone receives complementary admission if students are organized in subgroups of 16-20 students.
The same ratio of complementary adult admissions is applied to home school groups and youth camp counselors.
Additional adults will be charged the group rate of $13 for adults and $11 for seniors 65 and older.
Children younger than five years old will not be charged admission but must be accompanied by an adult responsible for their care and safety.
The individual who coordinates the program for school, homeschool, adult and group tours will receive free admission.
Bus and School or Camp Van drivers will receive complementary admission.
Individual vehicle drivers for home school, adult, and senior group tours will not be given complementary admission.
College and Adult
College and Adult groups of 20 or more can book any of our Educational Programs at the rate of $15 for each participant.
Content will be shared at an adult learning level.

Historiography
This 45-minute program is designed for students grade 9 and older and can be tailored for adult and senior groups.
How the Colonial Revival Movement in the early 20th century shaped Americans’ view of history.
How 19th century Legends and Published Histories misrepresented the Shawnee in Ohio and how those visions were reinforced in the 20th century.
Generational Shifts: How Piatt family members over 250 years changed their attitudes and behavior regarding Slavery in the United States.
Delve into Documents: Changes in Communication
This 45-minute program is designed for students grade 9 and older and can be tailored for adult and senior groups.
Compare common methods of personal and public communication today and in the past by sharing our own experiences with those who lived in this region in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Discover what has changed and what has remained the same in language, imagery, availability and intention. Participants will examine antique postcards and newspaper articles from the Piatt family collection.

Design Your Own Program
Do you have a special topic that you would like your students to explore at Piatt Castle? We will work with you to create a unique experience that meets your curriculum goals. Our strongest areas of content are Family History, U.S. History, Literature and Journalism. Partner with us to incorporate our primary sources into your units of study. (Fees to be determined)
